And the information that was so vitally important for you to get at those events has mostly been discarded by subsequent GB’s.
Ho Ho Ho
how many of you dutifully told this lie to your friends as a kid?.

The Governing Body is very good with coming up with thought-stopping clichés. And that is really all this is. It was never meant to be rooted in truth or reality. I remember some kids at school once asking me if I felt bad about not getting anything for Christmas. So, I repeated the conversation stopper that my mom told to to say."Oh, we get presents all year long, not just on one specific day".
It seemd to satisfy the curiosity of the kids and it definitely stopped the conversation. Only trouble is that I was lying. I don't EVER remember getting a wrapped present from my parents and I don't believe other JW kids can remember any such wrapped gift given to them either.
The JW organization taught us how to be expert liars from a very early age.

so i went to a christmas evening candlelight service tonight and it hit me.
i was primarily doing christmas since leaving the jw for the children.
lots of people do it for family without really thinking of the relevance.
I agree. He was born for one purpose: to die. Better for one man to die than for everyone to perish.
49But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all. 50Nor do you understand that it is better for you that one man should die for the people, not that the whole nation should perish.” 51He did not say this of his own accord, but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation, 52and not for the nation only, but also to gather into one the children of God who are scattered abroad. - John 11
P.S. The 6 hr. mini series "Jesus of Nazereth" (1978?) is the best of the Jesus movies. VERY well done and pretty accurate. It's available for free on YouTube.
i really like the red pill analogy in the matrix.
the one guy wishes he didn’t take the red pill and would have preferred to take the blue pill.. many used to be pimi which is the blue pill and then they wake up to the fact that the gb are not who they claim to be which is taking the red pill.. they go through conflict and confusion as to what to believe now?
does god exist?
I can tell talking to old friends that they don’t really believe in JW theology, well not convinced of it. But it would be nice if it’s true and there is a possibility of that of parts of it at least.
JW theology is designed like a "take away" or "to go" fast food. Even if you leave the org because of disillusionment with date setting, most keep the theology that appeals to the sin nature:
1. When you die, you are anihliated. No chance of being conscious forever.
2. 2nd Chance Theology. You get to pay for your sins yourself when you die and be resurrected in paradise for a do-over.
This is the theological hope of most JW's after they leave. It is very comfortable and doesn't require any commitment to an organization. It's a sort of parting gift, compliments of the WT.
Jesus says its a lie though.
here is my story of becoming a missionary after having kin suen (pronounced “shin”) as my circuit overseer.
my father wanted me to go to college, but since he wasn’t a witness, i knew he just didn’t understand how close we were to the end.
i had actually become a circuit overseer!
Enjoyed reading your story ECO!
My wife and I are now “faded” and we are undercover apostates doing our best to wake up others.
So glad you found someone you could relate to and start a family before it was too late.
not sure who wrote this list a while back but i think it is worth a repeat....to be added to or subtracted from or modified...whatever.. what's wrong with the watchtower.
"overlapping generations" - this teaching makes no sense.
the word used by jesus is in the singular, not plural form.. .
Watchtower Prophetic Date Setting Depatment
a post from another exjw site, shows how throughout the years, in a regular, systematic fashion, the watchtower has influence thoroughly; an ideological point of view, in the minds of it’s members by using bible scriptures and examples, to get the members to do the unthinkable, even if it clashes with modern ethics.
february 2016 watchtower, paragraph 3 of the article titled .
"learn from jehovah’s loyal servants".
In an attempt to cover up his adultery with Bath-sheba, David had Abishai’s brother Joab arrange to have her husband, Uriah, killed in battle. (2 Sam. 11:2-4, 14, 15; 1 Chron. 2:16)
Abishai may have known something about this, but he continued to respect David as the king appointed by God.
I believe this is the first time that I have seen the WT subtley request loyalty while the annointed was in the commission of a "gross sin" like adultery and murder. You can hear the snake hissing behind this one.
